Centennial Covenant Church
Focus: Doing 2018 with Jesus - Part 2
What do you suppose 2018 holds? None of us know for sure. Probably a blend of blessing and surprise, threat and loss, leisure and hard work. For sure, there will be change -- of one kind or another. Here's a core need: focus. How do we fix our eyes of active faith on the One who both holds the unknown future in his wisdom, and holds us in his proven love? Getting into Focus for Doing 2018 with Jesus will be our focus the next several Sundays.

About Centennial Covenant Church
Expand
We are a growing congregation of friendly people seeking to be Christ-centered and people-caring. Together we take seriously...
- The Bible as God's powerful and relevant truth
- Jesus Christ as the way to hope and life
- Building up people (not just programs and properties) as the heart of mission
- And a freedom not to take ourselves too seriously, but to laugh, be honest, and "agree to disagree" on non-essential matters in a spirit of humility and love.

We take to heart what Jesus said: "I have called you friends" (John 15:10). Knowing the gift of a relationship with God and then letting Him build relationships with each other is finally what matters most in life.

Our mission isTo glorify God by following Jesus
on a shared journey of transformation
in His mission to our broken world
A focused church – Acts 4(page 996)
1. Under threat(1-22)
· When they saw the COURAGE of Peter and John
and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men,
they were astonished and they took note that these men had been
WITH JESUS. (13)
· “DEEP and WIDE
2. In praying(23-30)
· Focusing on GOD, more than selves
· Asking for BOLDNESS more than ease
3. In shared life(31-35)
·ADVANCING risk-taking mission,
more than maintaining stable order
· Stepping into self-giving COMPASSION,
more than need-meeting consumption

For reflection and prayer
1. In what personal, church and community contexts do we need to engage in praying that’s focused more on God and his desires than our own, and asks more for “boldness” than safety and comfort?

2. What practical results from being shaken and filled with the Spirit (verses 32-35) do you long to see in your life and CCC?
