This week we will be looking at how Gods plans almost always interrupt our own. I say almost always because I am hedging my bets. I am hard pressed to find one single person in the Bible whose life was not interrupted by Gods plans for them, and always in ways they had never dreamed of. The list of interrupted people is like a who’s who of giants of faith. Abraham, Moses, Paul, Issac, all the disciples, Mary, Joseph, Noah, Jacob, Esther, Jonah, David, Isiah, you get the idea. The point here is that God has a way of upending what we thought we should be doing, and pointing us in a different and often more uncomfortable direction. The bright side of this is that His way is always better. I imagine God looking at our plans and life’s pursuits and saying yes that’s very nice, but I have a better idea! The hard part is that we cannot always see how it is better until after the fact. The list of people who were interrupted in the Bible is also in large part a list of people who questioned and even argued with God over what He was having them do. Consequently this is also why they are giants of faith. They did what God said regardless of their qualms and objections. No one fits this pattern better than Moses, and look what God did through him! Jesus was the ultimate interruption. He interrupted lives from the moment his imminent birth was pronounced, and He continues to do so today. Aren’t you glad He has interrupted yours? Doing life with God means He is going to interrupt your plans. You are going to do things you never dreamed, go places you’ve never seen, meet people you normally wouldn’t have, affect lives in ways you can’t possibly imagine, and in the end be more satisfied than you thought possible. IF. IF you allow God to interrupt your life. IF you submit to His perfect love for you. IF you overcome your doubts and fears. Imagine what life would be like without Gods interruptions. As we reflect on Casey’s sermon this week I invite you to be open to God interrupting your life, you won’t be sorry!
