Jesus Radiates the Glory of God!
Psalm 8

Luke 2:10–14
“ ‘Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger.’ And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, ‘Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!’ ”

A.W. Pink
“Happy is the soul that has been awed by a view of God’s majesty.”

Psalm 8
To the choirmaster: according to The Gittith. A Psalm of David.
“O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory above the heavens. Out of the mouth of babies and infants, you have established strength because of your foes, to still the enemy and the avenger. When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him? Yet you have made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honor. You have given him dominion over the works of your hands; you have put all things under his feet, all sheep and oxen, and also the beasts of the field, the birds of the heavens, and the fish of the sea, whatever passes along the paths of the seas. O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!”

Creation reveals the glory of God!

God has created an incredibly beautiful and marvelous universe to proclaim His glory!

W. Forsyth
“The stars are silent witnesses for God. Their size, their order, their steadfastness, their (splendor), and their mystery, which grow and deepen as investigation is prosecuted and knowledge increases, all proclaim the greatness of God.”

Even though we are (mankind) so insignificant in the face of ALL of Creation God does look on us with grace and love. David even points this out more specifically in two ways:

1. He uses the term “glory” to describe how God designed us.

Psalm 8:5
“Yet you have made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honor.”

2. He also says that God entrusted to us the responsibility to “rule” over creation. v.5-8

Psalm 8:5–8
“Yet you have made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honor. You have given him dominion over the works of your hands; you have put all things under his feet, all sheep and oxen, and also the beasts of the field, the birds of the heavens, and the fish of the sea, whatever passes along the paths of the seas.”

Mankind has rejected the Glory of God!

Romans 3:23
“for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”

Isaiah 64:6
“We have all become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous deeds are like a polluted garment. We all fade like a leaf, and our iniquities, like the wind, take us away.”

Isaiah 53:6
“All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned—every one—to his own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all.”
