Living in Darkness to Light
As the time changes, and the days get shorter, and we start leaving work at 5pm in the dark, it can feel like the light is far from us. Worse, it can get in our heads and we start thinking the Light of the World is far from us. This week we will experience living in Darkness to Light in very practical ways that give us hope and a means of grace. Don't let darkness have the final word! Be the light!

Healing Steps with Jesus
Healing Steps with Jesus is a Christ-centered program with foundations firmly established in Biblical truth. The 12 steps with accompanying Scriptures and the 8 principles based on the Beatitudes offer participants a clear path of salvation and discipleship; bringing hope, freedom, sobriety, healing, and the opportunity to give back one day at a time through Jesus Christ. This program addresses all types of habits and hurts, not just recovery from alcohol and/or drug issues. It is a "large umbrella" program that addresses a number of issues. The 12 steps and the 8 principles work seamlessly together, tying historical recovery to timeless Biblical teaching. Order your materials at the church office.
Thursdays - 6pm - Fireside Room - Cathy Cheever

Christmas 2017
Expand
Some of you will remember when we held a meeting for all those that wanted to have input on how we plan Christmas services (April 10, 2016) for Christmas 2016 and beyond. Thank you to all of you that participated in that meeting. This year Christmas Eve is on a Sunday. We will have a 10:30 a.m. traditional service and a 7 p.m. contemporary service. There will not be Sunday morning education on December 24, 2017. Each of these services will be approximately 1.5 hours (with normal services being 1.25 hours). It allows us to do both Advent 4 and Christ candles as well as congregational candle lighting with our Silent Night tradition.
As people have aged and the dynamics of the congregation have changed, our 11 p.m. service has had fewer and fewer attendees. Part of caring for the congregation is knowing when it is too difficult for some of our people to drive at night. Another part of pastoral care is recognizing our volunteers for each Christmas Eve service often spend more time at the church on Christmas Eve night than they do with their families. In an effort to care well for all of our congregation, we've made the decision to no longer have a late night (11 p.m.) service. We will continue to have our traditional candle lighting service earlier in the evening.
We look forward to sharing and celebrating with you during our coming Advent season.
Blessings,
Pastor Lois and Pastor Julie
