Focus for the month of November
As we prepare our shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child, it is a good reminder that Samaritan’s Purse, the organization that distributes them, does so much more!
· Which includes responding to the urgent needs of families devastated by the wind, rain, and storm surge of catastrophic hurricanes. Whether in the United States or abroad, they have come alongside hurting people to bring emergency relief and practical help in the Name of Jesus Christ.
¨ Texas & Florida: 5 response bases in Texas and 2 in Florida have been opened, organizing over 10,000 volunteers which have led 500 people to a faith in Jesus Christ
¨ Throughout the Caribbean: Relief supplies are being flown on a regular basis and as of Mid-October the following has been distributed
-- Heavy-duty shelter plastics - More than 38,000 households
-- Hygiene Kits - More than 9,000
-- Blankets - Nearly 17,000
-- Generators - Over 400
-- Clean Water - Close to 1 million liters
¨ Dominica: A 10 person medical team has been deployed along with 4 water treatment systems installed
¨ Barbuda: 2 water treatment systems installed
