Kid Connect
We are convinced that intergenerational worship is important for the spiritual formation of children. Children are welcome in any worship service. We provide “Kid Connect” bags with notes and activities to help children follow along with the sermon.

See a Children’s Ministries volunteer if you’d like to grab a bag.

Title: Find Your Rest
Speaker: Gabe Coyle,

The things you do when you’re tired—like reaching for the fourth cup of coffee, the remote, the cupcake(or cakes)—are almost never the things that’ll get you untired. We’ve got a radical new idea: How about a real rest? Do you even know what that means?
- Sarah Reistad-Long, "Rest Cures", January, 2008

>> Do you know what “real rest” looks like?
>> For real rest, you need the Lord of rest.
>> Real rest is a person first.
>> How do you get at the work under your work?
>> Real rest is a gift even in our work.
>> How are you doing good instead of just doing stuff?
"Instead of saying "I don't have time" try saying "it's not a priority," and see how that feels. Often, that's a perfectly adequate explanation. I have time to iron my sheets, I just don't want to. But other things are harder. Try it: "I'm not going to edit your résumé, sweetie, because it's not a priority." "I don't go to the doctor because my health is not a priority." If these phrases don't sit well, that's the point. Changing our language reminds us that time is a choice. If we don't like how we're spending an hour, we can choose differently."
- Laura Vanderkam, "Are you as busy as you think?"

ICEBREAKER: What wears you out the most?
SURFACING ASSUMPTIONS: Finish the sentence: “I would really rest if…”
ENGAGING EMOTION: How do you feel when you hear, “Real rest is a Person to know, not a habit to embrace”? Does this idea excite you? Frustrate you? Confuse you?
CONSIDERING YOUR CALENDAR: When was the last time you gave yourself permission to step back from your responsibilities to delight in God?
READ THE TEXT. Matthew 12:9-14.
RESTING IN WORK. Jesus teaches that “real rest” is not just about saying no to relentless activity, but also about embracing opportunities to do good. Have you ever experienced rest while engaged in work? What were you doing? What made that work restful?
