Mission Hills Church
IMagINe | The Church God Always Wanted
According to Ephesians 3:20, God is able and eager to do far more than we could ever imagine. He wants to work in us and through us, bringing hope and transformation to a broken world. Join us from October 21 to November 12 as we explore God’s plan for the local church and what this looks like for Mission Hills here and around the world.

Mission Hills is a church family—a family who wants to extend to you the same love, hope, and joy that we have received. We know that we cannot be all things to all people. But we do want to be one thing to all people. We want to be the place where anyone, of any age, of any level of spiritual maturity, of any economic class, of any ethnicity, of any church background—or no church background—can meet God in a way that transforms their life…forever!

If you are a first time guest, we would love to meet you! Stop by the Welcome Center for a free drink at Peakview!

Making Room for Them to Belong

IMagINE

We believe that the people of God should always let their celebration of what God has done stir up anticipation of what He’s doing next. When God led Pastor Craig Smith to Mission Hills just a little over a year ago, it was immediately clear to him that God’s great work in and through Mission Hills over the past 75 years was just laying the foundation for our next great adventure with Him. In order to maximize our ability to build on this foundation for the purpose of transforming lives, period, we are launching a new initiative we are calling Imagine. The goal of Imagine is to raise the necessary resources to extend our ability to reach people for Christ on local, regional and global levels. On the local level, we are planning for a new on-campus venue (for a Sunday “classic” service as well as weekend space for students), an expanded lobby/connection center and the extension of our worship center. On the regional level, we are planning to extend ministry at the Life Center and launch multi-site church plants here in Colorado. On the global level, we are looking to expand one of the critical ministry facilities of our partners in Poland. We will be digging into more details about each of those areas over the next four weeks.

Today, we’re starting the first of a four-week series that we’re calling Imagine. The goal of this series is to begin to paint the picture of the future of our church. If you were with us a few months ago for our 75th anniversary, you may remember that I said celebrating all that God has done should lead to anticipating all that he is going to do. We know that he’s not done doing. And the question is, what does it look like for us to get ready for our next great adventure with God as a church? That’s what this series is all about. We’re going to be peeking through some doors and catching glimpses of what Mission Hills is going to look like in the future. In the simplest terms, what the elders and staff of Mission Hills believe is that God is calling us to increase our impact for His Kingdom, locally, regionally and globally.
Revelation tells us what’s coming in order to equip the church to persevere and prosper.
The angel of the church is a personification of the church’s message/witness to the world.

The church doesn’t just have a message for the world, it is God’s message to the world.
Stars = Angels = The Witness of the Church
The church is the way God holds up the Gospel message for the world to see.
They were remaining faithful to Jesus in spite of persecution for that faith.
Jesus is saying they had forsaken their love for the lost.
1 // Jesus identified the love for the lost as one of his own great loves.
verse - Luke 19:10

2 // The church in Ephesus was originally famous for their love for the lost.
verse - Acts 19

3 // Jesus says they lost “the love you had at first”, not “your most important” love.

4 // This makes sense of the “how far you have fallen” language.

5 // This makes sense of the “do the things you did at first” language.

6 // This makes sense of the warning about their lamp-stand.

All of these reasons suggest that Jesus isn’t saying that the church in Ephesus had stopped loving him but that they had stopped loving the lost. And, apparently, there’s no such thing as a church that doesn’t love the lost.
For many “churches”, inward attention replaces outward mission.

The church is God’s platform for declaring the good news to the lost.
A church’s love for the lost can never exceed that of its people so, whose salvation is weighing on you these days?

What are you going to do about it?
1 // Pray
2 // Give
3 // Go

Helping Children in Need

Operation Christmas Child

Imagine the joy of a child in a third-world country opening a box filled with toys and gifts! The tradition of giving continues with Operation Christmas Child at Mission Hills as we collect small toys and personal items to fill shoeboxes to send to needy children overseas through Samaritan’s Purse. We will distribute empty shoeboxes on the weekends of October 21/22 and October 28/29. (while supplies last). You may also use your own box and pick up a label (indicating what gender/age group the gift is for). Filled boxes will be collected November 11 – 20. Volunteers are needed to pass out and collect boxes during worship services.

Men's Basketball

Let’s hit the hardwood for some five-on-five, full-court basketball. This recreational league is fun and competitive and is a great way to get a little exercise and meet other Mission Hills guys. All games will be played at Mountain Ridge Middle School at 10590 Mountain Vista Ridge in Highlands Ranch. Games will be played at 7:45 AM. This is a self-officiated league in which participants will call their own fouls. The league will consist of an eight-game regular season and a three-game season-ending tournament.
