Hebrews 11:3 (NIV) - "By faith, we understand that the universe was formed at God's command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible".
Genesis 1:27 (NIV) - "So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them."
Genesis 2:5-8 (NIV) - “Now no shrub had yet appeared on the earth and no plant had yet sprung up, for the Lord God had not sent rain on the earth and there was no one to work the ground, but streamscame up from the earth and watered the whole surface of the ground. Then the Lord God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being. Now the Lord God had planted a garden in the east, in Eden; and there he put the man he had formed.”
Genesis 2:15 (NIV) - “The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it”
Psalm 24:1 (NIV) - “The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it”.
*Brennan Manning - “The greatest single cause of atheism in the world today is Christians who acknowledge Jesus with their lips and walk out the door and deny Him by their lifestyle. That is what an unbelieving world simply finds unbelievable.”
*Leo Tolstoy – "My question—that which at the age of fifty brought me to the verge of suicide—was the simplest of questions, lying in the soul of every man . . . a question without an answer to which one cannot live, as I had found by experience. It was: ‘What will come of what I am doing today or shall do tomorrow? What will come of my whole life? . . . Is there any meaning in my life that the inevitable death awaiting me does not destroy?"
Ecclesiastes 1:14 (NIV) - "I have seen all the things that are done under the sun; all of them are meaningless, a chasing after the wind".
1 Kings 11:1-4 (NIV) - "King Solomon, however, loved many foreign women besides Pharaoh’s daughter—Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Sidonians and Hittites. They were from nations about which the Lord had told the Israelites, “You must not intermarry with them, because they will surely turn your hearts after their gods.” Nevertheless, Solomon held fast to them in love. He had seven hundred wives of royal birth and three hundred concubines, and his wives led him astray. As Solomon grew old, his wives turned his heart after other gods, and his heart was not fully devoted to the Lord his God, as the heart of David his father had been."
*Alexis De Tocqueville - “There is something surprising in this strange unrest of so many happy men, restless in the midst of abundance . . . Besides the good things that he possesses, he every instant fancies a thousand others that death will prevent him from trying if he does not try them soon. This thought fills him with anxiety, fear, and regret and keeps his mind in ceaseless trepidation.”
Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 (NKJV) – “Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God and keep His commandments, for this is man’s all.For God will bring every work into judgment, including every secret thing, whether good or evil.”
