If you have been on this planet for any length of time you have experienced a nagging in your mind or a knowing in your heart. You’ve sensed that it was time for a change.
At one point or another, you have sensed that it was time for…
· A relational change
· A career change
· A change of focus
What do you do when you feel the nudge to change but you don’t know how to begin?
That process looks like this:
1. A time to prepare: A time to pray and ask God to give you clarity about what you are sensing
2. A time to Grow: A season to cultivate you “desire to learn” and your “willingness to change”.
3. A time to Give: When you discover that small things can become big things when we give them to God
4. A time to Go
Today, I want to discuss the importance of stepping out of your current boat and walking toward Jesus.
The question is this, “Will you answer the call?”
I believe God is nudging a lot of us to step out of the boat. What does that mean?
It’s impossible to move forward until we let go of the things that are holding us back.
What holds us back from moving forward?
· A thought
· A relationship
· A job
· Your past mistakes
· Your current success
You know that God is nudging you but what do you do with it?
Three keys found in Luke 15 that will help you let go to go after God.
The keys to letting go: Obedience, Humility, Commitment.
1. Obedience: Obey His word even if it goes contrary to the norm.
2. Humility: Recognize God’s calling on our lives will not be accomplished without the help and guidance of God.
3. Commitment: Going will require letting go.
We are all called to make an eternal difference in a temporal world. Purpose is found on the other side of the border of what’s in it for me.
Your focus as a Christ follower is not on temporal things but on eternal things. Assessing our temporal focus versus our eternal focus is a good practice for all of us.
Whoever devotes themselves to themselves will have nothing but themselves to show for themselves.
Where is God asking you to let go? He is asking you to step out of the boat. He’s asking you to go out into the deep and fish for Him. Obedience, humility and commitment are the will lead you into the perfect will of God for your life.
We all have to let go before we can get going. We can never walk on water if we never leave the boat!
