Mission Hills Church
Unselfie | Treasure
Let’s face it- we don’t live in a world that encourages sacrifice . . . and especially not sacrifice for the sake of others. We’re too busy sucking in our stomachs for that perfect selfie to think much about reaching out our hands to others. But Jesus calls us to post a very different picture for the world to see, a picture he described this way: “Greater love has no one that this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” (John 15:13). The selflessness that Jesus calls his followers to means investing our time, talents and treasures in others. Unfortunately, the world can’t teach us what that looks like, so join us for the Unselfie series this August and see what the Bible says about how we’re to invest our God-given resources every single day.

Mission Hills is a church family—a family who wants to extend to you the same love, hope, and joy that we have received. We know that we cannot be all things to all people. But we do want to be one thing to all people. We want to be the place where anyone, of any age, of any level of spiritual maturity, of any economic class, of any ethnicity, of any church background—or no church background—can meet God in a way that transforms their life…forever!

If you are a first time guest, we would love to meet you! Stop by the Welcome Center for a free drink at Peakview!

Baptism Weekend // September 9 and 10

We believe that baptism is an important step of obedience for every person who has accepted Christ as his or her Savior. Baptism is a public declaration of an inward faith. It is a personal declaration that we choose to identify with Jesus. Baptism does not save you—it shows others that you are already a believer. It is not essential to salvation. It is an outward act of commitment to show what already happened in your heart—much like putting on a wedding ring is a symbol of your commitment in marriage.

Any church that claims to be Bible-driven has to talk about money on a regular basis. Why? Because the Bible talks about money a lot.

2000 verses about money vs. 500 about prayer and faith.
Wealth is like dynamite, with great potential for both good and harm.
The easiest way to keep the power of money in check is to be generous with it.
1 // Generosity is a matter of the heart, not the bottom line.

2 // Generosity must be voluntary.

3 // God has a special affection for generous people.
4 // God is anxious to supply our generosity.
Why we don’t give more generously?

1 // Selfishness
Sometimes we struggle with being generous simply because we’re selfish.

2 // Fear
Sometimes we struggle with being generous because we’re afraid.

3 // No plan
Sometimes we struggle with being generous because we don’t have a plan.
The Plan

Nothing -> Something -> Significant -> Tithing -> Spirit-led Sacrificial

Teaching the 4 Essentials of Faith

This network of four classes is designed to teach you the essentials of faith: belief, relationship, prayer, and generosity. You won’t just learn what Christians believe about these topics, but also the “how” and the “why” so that you can practice these skills, grow, and become more like Jesus.
