We find ourselves with the family of Herod
The most famous was Herod the Great
You may know him as the king who had 9 wives
He was a man who would do and say what he wanted and would kill anyone who got in his way.
There will be people who will try to kill a piece of you if they feel your serving God is getting in their way.
You may also know this King as the King who gave the order to kill the first born otherwise known as the Massacre of the innocent in Matthew 2
We find ourselves now with the son Herod Antipas or Herod tetrarch
Antipas is the nickname and Tetrarch being a title meaning that Antipas ruled over one quarter of the kingdom his father did.
John wasn’t in prison because he did anything wrong. He was in Prison for telling Antipas about himself.
John told him his union was unlawful in the eyes of God.
Herod killed his brother Phillip in order to marry Herodias.
The truth only hurts those who live a lie
Herod wanted to kill John but he was afraid it would start a riot.
If we only knew how much damage Satan would do in our lives but doesn’t because God would start a riot.
Scripture says Herod had a birthday party
Herod daughter dances for him. It pleased him so much that he told her anything you ask of me I will give you.
Now he is in hard situation. When we allow the world and not God to dictate our wants and needs we find ourselves in bad situations.
Even when the head is cut off the body is still intact.
