Lesson 1: The Call
Text: Nehemiah 1:1-11

In this lesson we'll define what a "call" is and how it can help shape the trajectory of our lives.
Five things often associated with a calling are:
1. Feeling what others do not.
2. Seeing what others cannot or will not.
3. A compulsion to act.
4. A sense of inadequacy.
5. Enlisting the help of others.
Key questions to ponder:

1. What is the difference between a need and a call?
» A need is something that we can do. A call is something that we MUST do or remain incomplete.

2. Can/should we always expect to "feel" something before we "do" something? Why or why not?
» No, there are lots of things we are commanded to do whether we feel like it or not.
» "Ministry is our daily answer to Christ' call to love others in His name."
» "Sometimes wait for a prompting the Holy Spirit has already given in the scriptures."

3. Why is prayer a vitally important part of the equation?
» Prayer awakens us to how utterly dependent we are on God.

4. With hopefully a clearer understanding under your belt... What are you seeing/feeling that requires you to move/act?

What do you believe you must do with your life?
