Bible Study #3:
Saul: The Fall (Part 1)
Introduction:
• A head start doesn't equal heart smarts.
• While humility can certainly increase our leadership capacity, pride and disobedience will surely stifle it.
Four things contributed to his fall:

1. Saul was Compulsive.
Definition = impulsive, uncontrollable, or addictive.
• He felt obligated to act. (1 Sam. 10:6-8, 13:3-9)
• He felt justified in doing so. (1 Sam. 13:10-14)

Take away for us:
Obedience trumps blame shifting every time.
Four things contributed to his fall:

2. Saul was Calculated.
Definition = Carefully planned for a particular and often improper purpose.
• Saul ignored God's plan. (1 Sam. 15:1-9)
• Saul usurped God's glory. (1 Sam. 15:10-15)
• Saul sought to reverse a divine decree. (1 Sam. 15:16-35)

Take away for us:
Obedience trumps good intentions every time.
