GREED: The Attitude to Avoid

Greed can lead to family difficulties
15:27 – He who profits illicitly troubles his own house, but he who hates bribes will live

Greed can lead to abusing people
28:8 – He who increases his wealth by interest and usury gathers it for him who is gracious to the poor

22:16 – He who oppresses the poor to make much for himself or who gives to the rich will only come to poverty

Money gained dishonestly dwindles away fast
13:11 – Wealth obtained by fraud dwindles, but the one who gathers by labor increases it

13:23 – Abundant food is in the fallow ground of the poor, but it is swept away by injustice

We should trust God for the proper amount of money
30:7-9 – Two things I ask of You, do not refuse me before I die: Keep deception and lies far from me, give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with the food that is my portion, that I may not be full and deny You and say, ‘Who is the Lord?” Or that I not be in want and steal, and profane the name of my God
GENEROISTY: The Action to Attain

Generosity leads to having more money
11:24 – There is one who scatters, yet increases all the more, and there is one who withholds what is justly due, but it results only in want

Generosity leads to spiritual refreshment
11:25 – The generous man will be prosperous, and he who waters himself will be watered

Those who are stingy often end up with nothing
11:26 – He who withholds grain, the people will curse him, but blessing will be on the head of him who sells it

28:22 – A man with an evil eye hastens after wealth and does not know that want will come upon him
GOD: The Almighty to Acknowledge

The number one purpose for money is to honor God
3:9-10 – Honor the Lord from your wealth and from the first of all your produce; so your barns will be filled with plenty and your vats will overflow with new wine

There are three ways to use your money
HONOR God with it

Tithing is relying on God (v5-8)
Tithing is required by God (v9)
Tithing is rewarded by God (v10)

God is the maker of the rich and the poor
22:2 – The rich and the poor have a common bond, the Lord is the maker of them all

Online Giving

One way that we can participate in what God is doing is by giving. Our attitude about giving reflects what we believe about the Kingdom of God. Gaylord E-Free is committed to sharing Jesus with those who don't know him, in our own city and around the world.  If God enables you to give, your gift will be a direct investment in changing lives for eternity.  Thank you for your generous partnership in the mission of Christ! We know it changes lives - both ours and those we reach.
