Leader: As a deer pants for flowing streams, so pant our souls for you, O God.

All: Our souls thirst for God, for the living God.

Leader: Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you in turmoil within us?

All: Hope in God; for we shall again praise him, our salvation and our God.
The risen Jesus Christ!

Adapted from Psalm 42

Silent Meditation on 1 Peter 2:10

Confession is a movement of obedience to God. We remember that there is no salvation but in Jesus, and that our hope for a flourishing life includes learning to confess and repent - to God and to neighbor. Therefore we confess with joy - knowing the mercy and grace of Jesus is ours. Knowing that He forgives us and trains us up into lives of life.

God of everlasting love,
we confess that we have been unfaithful
to our covenant with you and with one another.
We have worshiped other gods: money, power, greed, and convenience.
We have served our own self-interest
instead of serving only you.
We have not loved our neighbor as you have commanded.
Forgive us, gracious God,
and bring us back into the fullness
of our covenant with you and one another.
Through Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Come Thou Fount - (Listen only)

Come Thou fount of every blessing
Tune my heart to sing Thy grace
Streams of mercy never ceasing
Call for songs of loudest praise
Teach me some melodious sonnet
Sung by flaming tongues above
Praise the mount I'm fixed upon it
Mount of Thy redeeming love

Here I raise my Ebenezer
Hither by Thy help I come
And I hope by Thy good pleasure
Safely to arrive at home
Jesus sought me when a stranger
Wandering from the fold of God
He to rescue me from danger
Interposed His precious blood

How Your kindness yet pursues me
How Your mercy never fails me
Till the day that death shall loose me
I will sing, oh I will sing

Oh to grace how great a debtor
Daily I'm constrained to be
Let Thy goodness like a fetter
Bind my wandering heart to Thee
Prone to wander, Lord I feel it
Prone to leave the God I love
Here's my heart Lord, take and seal it
Seal it for Thy courts above

Praise God from whom all blessings flow, praise Him all creatures here below! Praise Him above ye Heavenly host, praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen

Leader: The grace, mercy, and peace of Jesus be with your Spirit
All: And also with you
SCRIPTURE 1 Peter 2:1-12
This is the word of the Lord.
All: Praise be to Christ.
The Stones Live!- 1 Peter 2:1-12
Andrew Sharp, Elder

1.We have a new identity.

2.We cast aside our toxic thinking and speaking so that we might grow.

3. Let’s talk about the importance of stones

4.What do people learn about God when they look at us?

5.We are sojourners and exiles whose home is God’s kingdom.

Benedictory Psalm: 102

(Leader and All alternate verses)

1 Hear my prayer, O Lord; let my cry come to you!

2 Do not hide your face from me in the day of my distress! Incline your ear to me; answer me speedily in the day when I call!

3 For my days pass away like smoke, and my bones burn like a furnace.

4 My heart is struck down like grass and has withered; I forget to eat my bread.

5 Because of my loud groaning my bones cling to my flesh.

6 I am like a desert owl of the wilderness, like an owl of the waste places;

7 I lie awake; I am like a lonely sparrow on the housetop.

8 All the day my enemies taunt me; those who deride me use my name for a curse.

9 For I eat ashes like bread and mingle tears with my drink,

10 because of your indignation and anger; for you have taken me up
and thrown me down.

11 My days are like an evening shadow; I wither away like grass.

12 But you, O Lord, are enthroned forever; you are remembered throughout all generations.

13 You will arise and have pity on Zion; it is the time to favor her; the appointed time has come.

14 For your servants hold her stones dear and have pity on her dust.

15 Nations will fear the name of the Lord, and all the kings of the earth will fear your glory.

16 For the Lord builds up Zion; he appears in his glory;

17 he regards the prayer of the destitute and does not despise their prayer.

18 Let this be recorded for a generation to come, so that a people yet to be created may praise the Lord:

19 that he looked down from his holy height; from heaven the Lord looked at the earth,

20 to hear the groans of the prisoners, to set free those who were doomed to die,

21 that they may declare in Zion the name of the Lord, and in Jerusalem his

22 when peoples gather together, and kingdoms, to worship the Lord.

23 He has broken my strength in midcourse; he has shortened my days.

24 “O my God,” I say, “take me not away in the midst of my days— you whose years endure throughout all generations!”

25 Of old you laid the foundation of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands.

26 They will perish, but you will remain; they will all wear out like a garment. You will change them like a robe, and they will pass away,

27 but you are the same, and your years have no end.

28 The children of your servants shall dwell secure; their offspring shall be
established before you.
