Series: Wisdom from Above
Title: Taming the Tongue
James 3:1–12
The Bible places incredible significance on a person’s use of words.

Taming the Tongue:
1. Recognize
2. Rein
3. Remember
Taming the Tongue:
1. Recognize the Significance of Your Words
· Teachers will be judged according to their words.

· All people will be judged according to their words.
2. Rein the Power of Your Words
The Tongue is Powerful

- It can cause inordinate destruction.

- It can bring great good.

By the work of the Holy Spirit, a Christian can harness the tongue for the good of others.
3. Remember the Highest Use of Your Words
Use your words to:
· Praise God

· Witness to Others
Discussion Questions:
1. Do I recognize the significance God places on my words? Am I careful about the teaching under which I place myself and my family?
2. How have I used my words in ways that have brought relational destruction? Are there people with whom I need to seek reconciliation because of my poor use of words?
3. How can I use my words for good this week? In what ways can I praise God or be a witness to others?
