This weekend, Merle spoke of how to foolproof your heart and how to know if you have a foolproof heart. Merle emphasized paying attention to wisdom, holding onto wisdom, and enjoying the fruit of wisdom. Additionally, he explained that we could discern whether or not we have foolproof hearts by various signs such as controlling our tongue and focusing our eyes.
What were some of the strategies that Merle described that will help us have a fool-proofed heart?

The first strategy Merle spoke of was paying attention to wisdom. What are the ways you pay attention to wisdom in your own life? What is the ultimate source of wisdom? How can we discern true wisdom in a world of “fake news”?
The second strategy Merle spoke of was holding onto wisdom. How do you hold on to wisdom? How do you retain and grow in the wisdom you have learned?
The final strategy Merle spoke of was enjoying the fruits of wisdom. How can we do this? What does it mean to enjoy these fruits? How does pursuing wisdom lead to flourishing and growth? What are some examples in your own life of enjoying the fruits of wisdom?
Who are some of the wisest Christian people you know? What made them so wise? How did they become so wise? Did they exemplify Merle’s strategy and message?
What areas of your life do you feel like you need the most wisdom in right now?
James 1:5 says, “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.” Take time to pray and ask God for wisdom as well as help to live out these strategies as you pursue wisdom.
