Essential Foundations: Real Relationships
Foundations are important. We all know that houses built on sand don’t last through storms. In the Essential Foundations series, Pastor Jimmy Evans shares six elementary principles from Hebrews that create rock-solid, mature faith. And when we build our lives upon these spiritual foundations, we will not be shaken. This weekend, Pastor Jimmy discusses how water baptism and the laying on of hands in prayer are necessary foundations for us to have a rock-solid faith.

A. Water baptism is the covenant seal of the New Covenant.
B. Baptism in water supernaturally empowers us to know and serve Jesus.
C. Baptism in water purifies our conscience from our life of sin and gives us confidence in our relationship with the Lord.
Baptism gives us greater confidence in our relationship with the Lord for two reasons:

1. We obey the first commandment of the Lord as new believers to be baptized.

2. God supernaturally cleanses our consciences, and this is key in our confidence before God but also in keeping the devil from constantly condemning us.

About Gateway Church

Gateway Church is a Bible-based, evangelistic, Spirit-empowered church founded in 2000 by Pastor Robert Morris. Today we meet as one church in many locations with more than 30,000 people attending each weekend. Our vision is to see people saved, healed, set free, discipled, equipped, empowered, and serving; and our mission is to help each person at Gateway believe in Jesus, belong to family, become a follower, and build God’s kingdom. We’re all about people.
