What does praise accomplish? It helps develop a grateful heart and attitude.

When times have been tough, like over the last four weeks, we who believe in the Lord Jesus Christ will have a different outlook on life. We don’t live in fear, dominated by the unknown, causing us to be afraid of everything around us.
We shouldn’t have to live Job’s life all over again, wondering where God is and why we are suffering. Trials and troubles bring opportunities to praise God and trust Him for our every daily need.

Jesus told His disciples to pray:
Our Father which art in heaven,
Hallowed be Thy Name,
Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done,
In earth, as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
And forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors.
Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.
For Thine is the kingdom, and the power and the glory forever.
Amen ( Matthew 6:9-13 KJV)

We know that one day what happens here will be like that which happens in heaven, God will reign supreme in earth like He does in heaven now. At this time, we know not everyone knows Him and has a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, therefore the earth will be rebellious and full of troubles and trials that will affect us all. Jesus said that we will all experience trouble and yet He will be able to “overcome” it all. Because we are in a fallen world there will be problems that cause us to have wants and create daily needs. At times, some of those needs might not be met without God’s divine help. Jesus calls for us to trust God for those daily needs. As He has taught us to pray, Jesus wants us to look to our Father in heaven for those needs, not to trust in our ingenuity.
In essence we are sinners who sin and when we do, others will also, so to live a life of worth we must forgive sin against us as God has forgiven us for our sins. Living in this fallen world we are always challenged by satan and his minions and we need God's help and power to stay strong and faithful.

God’s kingdom and power and glory belong to Him and He desires us to live under His wings that we might find hope and peace through Him because of God’s precious Son’s salvation offered to us freely.

Isn’t that something to be praising God for, the salvation of our souls and the comfort of His Holy Spirit, to know the great and mighty works of God which can be seen through faith and that He is the only One whom we can call Holy and all the while have the privilege to share all of that with a lost and dying world! What a blessing and we should be praising Him with all that we are. If that doesn’t develop a grateful heart and attitude nothing will.
1. Declare that God is our comforter - v. 1

In the midst of trouble and trial, even that kind which comes because we have sinned or rebelled against our God and causes Him to be angry with us, we can hope for and really see and feel the comfort of our Father. He loves us even though we sin against Him. He will never leave us nor will He forsake us just because we have sinned. He might be angry with us for the decisions we have made but He will not abandon us.
There might be times that we are going through difficult experiences not because anything we have done and our God’s comfort comes to us in our time of need.
2. Declare that God is Our salvation - v. 2-3

There are times when I have to trust in the Lord rather than to be afraid. For the Lord is my strength, my song and my salvation. The water of life which He freely gives me provides an eternal life through the salvation that my Savior because of His death and resurrection.
3. Declare God’s Name to be known - v. 4

Because of His great Name, I will praise Him and give thanks so that I might proclaim Him throughout all nations. There is no higher name than the name of the Lord God. I was watching a movie about Marco Polo and a statement was made by a Chinese man after Marco Polo had proclaimed that his God was the one true God who made all there is. The statement was, “How could your God be the only God when the world is so big?” We who are believers know from the Scriptures who our God is and believe by faith all that is written and can with certainty proclaim that this God is the One who created all things and is worthy to be proclaimed to all mankind and be worshiped by all for there is none beside Him.
4. Declare God’s great works - v. 5

We who love the Lord praise God through song because of the wonderful works He has done, letting all know He is our God! Singing is one of the special ways Christians proclaim that God is who He is and that we are His children, saved from our sins by the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ who was crucified and buried and then raised from the dead to live forever more. There are not songs of praise and love and glory about the gods of this world and how they are righteous, loving and caring toward those who are redeemed by them. No! Because those gods are not real and have nothing to give to those who follow them but emptiness and fear. This God of the Bible, Jehovah God, is the one true God and deserves to be praised and loved by all who follow Him for He is great and has done great things.

We praise Him in song because He is worthy of all and deserves our praise. He desires His children to sing unto Him a new song and our songs surely can be a great way to praise Him.
5. Declare God as the Holy One - v. 6

Praise and worship is the result of having such a great and Holy God. Our God responds to the praise of His people. God loves the praise of His people and calls for them to praise in all circumstances.

My dear friends we have gathered together after such a long time of being separated. Aren’t you ready to praise the name of the Lord our God! Let us raise our voices to the Lord and praise His holy Name!
Praise Him! Praise Him!

Praise Him! Praise Him! Jesus, our blessed Redeemer!
Sing, O Earth, His wonderful love proclaim!
Hail Him! Hail Him! Highest archangels in glory;
Strength and honor give to His holy Name!
Like a shepherd, Jesus will guard His children,
In His arms He carries them all day long.

Praise Him! Praise Him! Tell of His excellent greatness;
Praise Him! Praise Him! Ever in joyful song!

Praise Him! Praise Him! Jesus, our blessed Redeemer!
For our sins He suffered, and bled, and died.
He our Rock, our hope of eternal salvation,
Hail Him! Hail Him! Jesus the Crucified.
Sound His praises! Jesus who bore our sorrows,
Love unbounded, wonderful, deep and strong.

Praise Him! Praise Him! Tell of His excellent greatness;
Praise Him! Praise Him! Ever in joyful song!

Heav’nly portals loud with hosannas ring!
Jesus, Savior, reigneth forever and ever;
