Palmyra Grace Church

Dispersed Week 6

Dispersed Week 6

Sunday, May 24, 2020 Peter – “the rock,” was one of Jesus’s closest friends. In spite of all of his, fears and failures, he when he encountered the risen Lord he was empowered by the Holy Spirit to lead the movement that would forever change the world. 30 years later her would write a letter to Christians who scattered from each other, and were facing some of the most difficult conditions and they had ever experienced. Out of the context of this letter; its own fears, pains and isolations – Peter speaks to ours. Providing HOPE and encouraging faithfulness in these uncertain times.

Questions for Grace Groups or self-reflection:

1. Have you ever judge a book, a house, a gift, etc. because of what it looked like on the outside. What made you realize your judgement was wrong?

2. How can we tell whether or not someone is a Christian by looking on the outside? How does Peter answer this question?

3. Read Philipians 2:4-11 how does Jesus give us an example of his “way of thinking”? Since we were called to this as well, what needs to change in order for you to live with a greater mind of Christ?

In verses 4:3-4 Peter tells us that a pursuit of holiness can feel like an indictment on those who have committed themselves to a worldly way of living. They may even be surprised about your new way of life and even ridicule you for it.

4. What are the most distinctive ways your live has changed since coming to know Christ?

5. How has your faith changed the way you approach the relationships you had with others before knowing Christ?

6. In verse 8 Peter tells us to “love one another earnestly.” What role does loving others and practicing hospitality (loving the stranger) play in your faith? Who is a stranger you can show hospitality to this week?

7. In Verse 10 Peter tells us to use our gifts to serve, what would you consider some fo the gifts God has given you so that you can be part of the “all hands on deck” mission of God?

8. As you think about living your faith “Out Loud” this week - what’s one way you God is asking you to change the way you live, and one way He is calling you to love? Ask the Holy Spirit to empower you to make these changes, considering sharing them with your group or a friend for accountability.
