UPCOMING EVENTS

WOMEN OF PURPOSE SPRING TOUR
Ladies, mark your calendars now for the upcoming Spring Tours. The tour will be in our location at Christian Life A/G on Saturday, April 29. More information will be forthcoming.

YOUTH SPAGHETTI FUNDRAISER
Emerge Youth will be having their spaghetti lunch fundraiser on Sun. Feb 5 immediately following the morning service. Please sign up if you are able to come and support our teens! If you are able to donate any food items, that would help in keeping our costs down.

BODY NEWS

NEW SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASS
Anna is teaching a “First Steps” class. This class is designed to teach the basics of the faith and also serves as an introduction to our church. If you would like to learn the simple basics of what you believe, join us this morning at 9:30.

ANNUAL BUSINESS MEETING
Our annual meeting will be Sun. Jan 29 immediately following the morning service. All members are urged to attend as we will be bringing you up to date on our building project, the future vision of our church and our strategic 3 year plan as well as voting for your new Deacon Board member. We encourage everyone (voting member or not) to attend this meeting. The candidate up for election for Deacon Board is Keith Miller. There will be a light luncheon following the meeting in our fellowship room. If you plan on attending the luncheon, please sign up so we know how much food to provide!

CHURCH DIRECTORY
It has been a few years since our last directory and we are in the initial planning stages for a new one. If you would like to help with this planning, put your name and “directory” on the blue card in the pew rack and place in the offering plate and we will contact you.

PRAYER CHAIN
We are updating our current prayer chain. This chain is a group of individuals who are available and willing to pray for a specific need as it arises. A call is placed to Betty Ness who is the coordinator. She then initiates the chain. If you would like to be a part of this, please put your name on the blue card in the pew rack and place it in the offering and we will contact you. If you are currently on the chain, please complete the card so we know that you want to continue to be a part of this ministry.

TITHING ENVELOPES
In order to give proper credit for your giving, we recommend using our numbered tithing envelopes which have been placed in the mailboxes by the front door. These enable us to give you an accurate record of your giving at the end of the year for tax purposes. Your designated envelopes are in your mailboxes. PLEASE DO NOT USE LAST YEAR’S ENVELOPES AS WE HAVE ASSIGNED NEW NUMBERS

"God never made a promise that was too good to be true." — Dwight L. Moody

NAMES, ADDRESSES UPDATES
Thank you to all who have reviewed and returned the address information sheets. There are still a few who have yet to have their information added. We have placed the sheets in your mailbox with the needed info highlighted. Please complete it and return it to Pastor Jeff.

CONGRATULATIONS!
To our own Gene Knaub on his induction into the York County Racing Club Hall of Fame. Gene started racing in the 1980’s and has accumulated over 100 wins in less than 10 years. His career win stats stand at nearly 150 wins in five different divisions. Way to go Gene-Congratulations!

SNOW CANCELLATIONS
Should we have the need to cancel any of our services due to inclement weather, we will put that information on our FaceBook page, our website, and the local TV stations [WGAL-CH 8, CBS 21, ABC 27, FOX 43, CW 15]

If you would like to sign up for a TEXT on your cell phone that will indicate the status of our services, please fill out the blue & white card with your name and cell phone number. Please be sure to hand them into our Information Center and we will add you to our list.

CLEANING THE ATTIC
In the near future will be cleaning the attic of our church. In the process, we will be purging some items that have been there for quite a while. If you know of something that you want saved, please put a sticky note on it so we do not toss it.

"We are not necessarily doubting that God will do the best for us; we are wondering how painful the best will turn out to be." — C. S. Lewis
Do we have that hope regardless of our situation?

Do we have a happy anticipation of good happening in our lives?
We as believers can go directly to God. And we can go with confidence. We don’t have to cower and fear coming to our father.

And what does it say will happen when we do?

We will receive mercy.

Grace is getting something you don’t deserve.

Mercy is NOT getting something you DO deserve.
Are we consistent and persistent in prayer?

Part of acquiring hope is to have a consistent prayer time.

Our hope is not in the time we spend, but the time we spend builds our hope because the Holy Spirit fills us with that hope as we pray.
If God has spiritually seated us in the heavens and has given us every spiritual blessing, then we have God’s approval or God’s permission to pray with authority.
If we get to the end of what we can say and we don’t have any words left, or we are so troubled that we just can’t pray, the Holy Spirit will pray for us and He prays for exactly what we need.
If Peter wants us to live a life of hope, then we know the enemy will try to create fear and anxiety in our lives.

God wants us to have that hope so he tells us not to worry but to trust Him.

Pray, commit it to God, thank Him for handling it and let the hope that God will do it, rise to the surface.
Our hope is restored. God is all-powerful and there is nothing he cannot do, so hope is there!
The Christian life is a marathon, not a sprint.

Often times if we don’t see an answer or a change in a certain period of time we kind of give up.
God’s timing is not ours.

But as we persist in prayer, what will happen is we begin to change.

That’s what prayer is anyways, not that situations will change, but that we will change in the situations.

And what is the change that God wants to make?

He wants us, like the Jews in Peter’s day, to let the hope we have in an all mighty God to do what is right, overtake and minimize the hardships we face today.

Thanks for joining us!
