II. Parents are called to be sensitive.

Key words for kids: vs.1 obey = actions / vs. 2 honor = attitude (to obey is to honor)
Key phrase for parents: vs.1 "in the Lord"
Key question: Who benefits most from my parenting decisions?

Carrying out this calling requires:
A. Transparency, not perfection.
B. Patience, not pettiness.
C. Courage, not criticism.
III. Parents are called to be strong.
III. Parents are called to be strong.

"no not provoke your children to wrath" = to anger alongside, to enrage
" bring them up" = to rear to maturity

(1) nous = intellect,mind
(2) tithemi = to set or place advice before

III. Parents are called to be strong.
To avoid provoking our kids to wrath we must:
A. Appeal to their heart, not just their head.
B. Appeal to their needs, not just their nature.
"training" = disciplinary correction
"Pride is an inherited affliction, but humility is a choice."
-Dr W. Wilbert Welch
(Former Pres. of Cornerstone College)

Questions to ponder:
1. Is my example helping or hindering my children's spiritual development?
2. What part does my faith play in how I parent?
3. How can having a "stewardship" mindset change how I parent my kids?
