Light Has Come

DAY 4 OF 12

The Posture of Possibility

Mary had every reason to panic. She was a virgin engaged to Joseph, and now she was told she’d be pregnant with God’s Son. How do you explain that to your fiancé? To your family? To your community? In her culture, this announcement could have led to a harsh punishment.

Yet after the angel explained what God was about to do, Mary’s response was stunning: “Behold the maidservant of the Lord! Let it be to me according to your word.”

In other words, “I’m available. I’m willing. Do what You said!”

Mary teaches us something crucial about experiencing God’s miracles: humility opens the door to possibility. She didn’t have to understand everything. She didn’t demand a complete blueprint. She simply trusted and said yes.

C.S. Lewis wrote, “Humility is not thinking less of yourself, but thinking of yourself less.” Mary wasn’t consumed with how this would affect her reputation, her comfort, or her plans. She was consumed with God’s plan and purposes. That’s the balance we all need.

If we’re overly cautious, we won’t believe God wants to partner with us. If we’re arrogant or self-reliant, we’ll miss what God wants to do. The sweet spot is right in the middle: humble confidence.

What is God asking you to trust Him with today? Maybe He’s asking you to take a step of faith in your career, your relationships, or your finances. Maybe He’s inviting you to believe Him for something that seems impossible. You don’t have to see the whole staircase, you just need to take the next step.

God works through humble, willing vessels. He’s ready to do miracles in you and through you, if you’ll simply echo Mary and say, “Let it be to me according to Your word.”

Pray

Father, I want Mary’s posture of humility and willingness. I don’t need to understand every detail. Help me trust You even when things don’t make sense. Give me the courage to say yes to Your plans for my life. Let it be to me according to Your word. Amen.
