What About the Walls?Näide

Rebuilding Starts With Inspection
Before rebuilding can begin, there must be inspection. Nehemiah didn’t start with bricks—he started with eyes. He went out at night to view the condition of the walls, quietly assessing the damage. In the same way, we cannot fix what we haven’t honestly evaluated. This is a season to inspect—not with condemnation, but with courage. What gates have been burned? What walls are broken?
Many of us want restoration, but we resist inspection. We prefer to build over brokenness rather than confront it. But God is calling us to deal with what’s been hidden in darkness—the unspoken wounds, the ignored compromises, the unaddressed gaps. Until the damage is seen, it cannot be healed. This is not about exposure to shame, but about clarity for reconstruction.
Nehemiah did not bring a crowd to inspect with him—he went with a few trusted men. Some inspections are private affairs. There are things the Lord wants to show you in secret before you ever speak them aloud. Don’t seek applause or validation for your weeping. Go with God in the quiet and let Him show you where the breaches are.
The gates of the city were burned, not just the walls. In scripture, gates represent access points, authority, leadership, and spiritual exchange. If your gates are burned—your eyes, your ears, your heart—then the enemy has unchecked access. Rebuilding the walls without reclaiming the gates is incomplete. God wants to restore your gates, so you can regain spiritual authority and discernment.
Many have built external ministries and careers but have neglected the gates of their own soul. If your ear gate is open to gossip, your eye gate to perversion, or your heart gate to bitterness, the walls won’t matter. A strong life begins with clean gates. Ask the Lord, “Which gates in my life are burned?” Let Him show you, and don’t run from the answer.
Inspection is not a one-time act; it becomes a lifestyle. Even after building, Nehemiah appointed guards and watchmen. We are not called to build once and walk away—we are called to maintain spiritual vigilance. Your spiritual walls need regular checking. Your gates need continual guarding. This is how you preserve what God has entrusted to you.
God’s rebuilding strategy always begins with revelation, not assumption. Nehemiah didn’t start by guessing where the damage was—he saw it for himself. Don’t build based on what others are doing or what seems urgent. Build based on what God shows you needs restoration. And when He reveals it, don’t delay.
Lastly, Nehemiah’s inspection was done by night. Sometimes God will allow darkness to surround you—not to punish you, but to make your spiritual sight sharper. In times of uncertainty, pain, or silence, ask the Lord to help you see clearly in the dark. The night season often reveals more than the day. Don’t despise it. God uses the night to reveal what must be rebuilt.
Reflection Questions:
- What areas of my life have I avoided inspecting because they feel too painful or shameful?
- Are there gates—my eyes, ears, or heart—that have been left open or burned by compromise?
- Am I trying to rebuild publicly without first inspecting privately?
- Have I been living with brokenness for so long that I’ve accepted it as normal?
Action Step:
Take 15 minutes to sit in silence before the Lord. Ask Him this question:
“Lord, where are the broken walls and burned gates in my life?”
Write down whatever He reveals. Don’t judge it—just record it. Then pray:
“God, thank You for showing me. Give me the strength to face it and rebuild it with You.”

About this Plan

God is calling His people to rebuild the spiritual walls that have been neglected—both personally and corporately. This plan awakens a Nehemiah-like burden, pushes us to repent, inspect, intercede, and build with focused worship, bold faith, and divine strategy. We are not spectators—we are builders, and now is the time to arise.
