Never Forgotten

Key Verse: Not a single one of all the good promises the LORD had given to the family of Israel was left unfulfilled; everything He had spoken came true. - Joshua 21:45

As a parent, there are times when I’ve promised my children a snack or an activity and when it doesn’t come immediately, they quickly grow impatient. However, sometimes in the waiting, they get distracted and forget about it altogether. And just because they have forgotten doesn’t mean that I have. I still intend to give it, just as I had promised.

Similarly, while we are waiting on God, it doesn’t mean that God has forgotten about His promise. Maybe you once hoped for healing, reconciliation or breakthrough - but when it didn’t come when you expected it to, your faith quietly faded away.

Can I encourage you today to put your faith back in our God who is faithful and loving? God hasn’t forgotten. Just like how Jesus called Simon back into the boat to go deeper, even after a night of disappointment, God is calling us back to His word with renewed faith and obedience.

God’s word to Simon must have re-ignited a hope that may have been dimmed by his failure and disappointment the night before. This brought fresh faith to Simon and his obedience to the word resulted in an amazingly huge haul of fish.

Perhaps you have been believing in God's promise for a loved one’s salvation, a turnaround in a health condition or a financial breakthrough but it’s been taking a while to be realised. Let God’s word revive our hearts to believe again!

Take heart that just as in Joshua 21:45, the same God who fulfilled every promise to Israel is still faithful today.

If He’s promised it, He will fulfil it!
