Living in God’s Peace: A 12-Day Journey Through ScriptureNäide

A Day for Declarations
Merriam-Webster’s says a beatitude is a state of bliss, of blessedness. The first beatitude came from Moses shortly before his death: “Happy are you, O Israel!” he exclaimed, reminding his people that the Lord was “the shield of your help and the sword of your majesty!”
Centuries later the queen of Sheba pronounced beatitudes on King Solomon: “Happy are these your servants, who stand continually before you and hear your wisdom!” (1 Kin. 10:8). Job, the righteous sufferer, pronounced a beatitude on the person whom God loves enough to discipline (Job 5:17).
Most of the beatitudes appear in the Psalms: “Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good” (34:8). “Happy is he . . . whose hope is in the Lord his God” (146:5). It’s clear from Scripture that a state of bliss is the result of delighting in the Lord.
Can you think of anyone you can bless with a beatitude today? Take these beatitudes as your own and declare them in faith over your life. Beatitudes can bring peace to the giver and the receiver.
About this Plan

The story of the Bible is the story of peace. But peace isn’t simply a feeling of calm or ease. It is a way of experiencing life as we were always meant to, in relationship with our Creator and with each other. We can recover a completeness that was once lost but is restored in the gospel. Experience peace with God as you meditate on this important theme of Scripture. In this journey, you will find the encouragement you need to live out of the wholeness you have in Christ—and be equipped to share that peace with others.
