DAY 4- BIBLICAL AFFIRMATIONS
It’s JJ, and day 4 is all about affirmations. The most powerful words we will ever hear are the words we are saying to ourselves, so we must be extra careful with the words we are pouring into ourselves. Many times we get frustrated and begin to speak negative words.
I can’t do this.
I’m so stupid.
It’s too late for me; I’m too old.
No one likes me.
I don’t have the time.
I’m just not creative.
I hate myself.
And let’s not get started on the “IF ONLY’S…If only I had the money, if only I lived in another city, if only I had a husband.”
Words hold power! The Word says in Proverbs that the tongue holds the power of life and death. I want you to picture a woman standing on a bridge, ready to jump. You are walking by, and you see this woman. What words do you speak to her? If you said, “Jump; no one cares. No one is going to miss you.” What might happen? Think about what words you can say that could save her life? Every human life matters, including yours. The world needs you. I need you. You have so much purpose. Speak out other encouraging words you would say to her.
Sometimes we are the woman on the bridge. Life can be so overwhelming, and we have to watch the words we speak over our lives because it could push us off the edge. The bible says in 2 Corinthians 10:5 -
We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.
Here are a few biblical affirmations that can start you off as you write down your affirmations for today.
- I have peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:6-8)
- I am a daughter of the King. (1 Peter 2:9)
- I am victorious (Deuteronomy 20:4)
- I am fearfully and wonderfully made ( Psalm 139:14)
- I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me (Philippians 4:13)
- I live by faith and not by sight. (Corinthians 5:7)
Now it’s time to write yours! Today, you will write your seven affirmations with the Scripture to back it up. Take it with you today and place it where you will see it throughout the day. Take time to focus on these words. If you can, say these affirmations in the mirror!
During your reflection tonight, write how it felt to affirm yourself.
