Challenging SituationsNäide

God Is Not Overwhelmed
On the hardest days of our lives, it can be hard to see God. Our minds are crowded with thoughts of pain and uncertainty, and perhaps anger or frustration at the situation we find ourselves in.
It’s very difficult to see anything other than the dilemma we’re facing because it’s just so all-consuming.
In those times of hardship though, it’s important we learn to find moments of stillness. Be it 30 seconds to breathe at our desk, or a brief pause in the car before we move on to our next appointment.
Why?
Because, although we may not feel Him, God is there, and it’s in those times of stillness we refine our awareness of Him and let His ‘higher thoughts and higher ways’ become the ones we live by.
When we listen to Him, fear is displaced by peace, and despair with hope. Confusion and worry are overtaken by clarity and trust.
In the greatest times of my feeling overwhelmed, I’m reminded of the words of a dear friend who said, ‘God sees the whole picture and He’s not overwhelmed.’ So our prayer is, ‘God give me Your perspective.’
Amen.

About this Plan

I don’t think anyone could say life is easy. It’s filled with twists and turns and unexpected tangents. Many times these twists and turns are challenging. Through our readings on challenging situations, our contributors will encourage us to shift our perspective when in the midst of trials and to remember that God is not overwhelmed, that He is with us, and that He is in control.
