Bible Reflections From Scripture Union Volume One

DAY 97 OF 181

Watch out! Jesus is Coming Back Read Mark 13:24-37 “So be on your guard; I have told you everything ahead of time.” Mark 13:23 When we approach dogs that are seemingly asleep, their ears twitch, they sniff and try to recognise the footsteps and the scent. May we also be as faithful and as alert to our Master’s return. Jesus is definitely coming back soon! What God had purposed in His heart, He will bring to pass. The delay of Christ’s return is related to the preaching of the Gospel to the whole world because God wants everyone to be saved (1Timothy 2:4). The day of the Lord will come like a thief, unannounced and unexpected, when everything seems peaceful with everyone complacent and comfortable. When the Master arrives, may He not find us sleeping but keeping watch and faithful in our assigned tasks. We are to be spiritually awake and morally alert in righteous, holy and godly living. We need to make every effort to be found spotless, blameless and at peace with Him. We guard our hearts with all diligence and maintain close fellowship with Him continuing in faith, love and hope of salvation (1Thessalonians 5:8). We are to love the Lord passionately and pray fervently. When Christ returns, He will judge those who do not know God and do not obey the Gospel of our Lord Jesus (2 Thessalonians 1:8-9). All our non-Christian relatives and friends will be eternally separated from us if we do not share the good news with them. So be compelled, by the love of Christ, to share the Gospel boldly. Gently rebuke, correct and encourage other believers to not just hear the word but to obey. We need to work energetically while the sun shines. When night falls, no one can work. Live as though Jesus is coming tomorrow, so we can be confident and unashamed when He appears. Pray for the salvation of all our lost relatives and friends.
