365: Fear Not - One Day at a TimeSample

Dear Church Family,
In the times we live in, we can be filled with fear and anxiety about the future. As Leah and I were preparing for this devotional, we ourselves felt overwhelmed while being confronted with some of our own fears.
It amazes me that the words “DO NOT FEAR” are mentioned 365 times in our Bibles. Which is a clear indication that God recognises the fear we carry and how much this is a struggle. It is also reassuring to know that we have a comforter who is present in times of fear and trouble.
We want to invite you to join us with us on this 21-day devotional – where we look at one scripture, give you one takeaway, a prayer and an action point.
I believe together we can face fear – one day at a time.
Blessings,
Alwyn + Leah

Day 1: Fear Is Real (But It’s Not Your Master)
Fear is not weakness. It’s human. So many times growing up, I used to think that having fear was a sign of weakness and made me look bad. But over the years, I have learned to recognise my fear and to surrender it to Jesus.
The problem isn’t that you feel fear. The problem is when fear starts leading your decisions.
Fear says:
“What if it gets worse?”
“What if I’m not safe?”
“What if I fail?”
But David didn’t pretend he wasn’t afraid. He said, “I sought the Lord.”
That’s the shift.
Fear pushes you inward.
Faith turns you upward.
You don’t overcome fear by ignoring it. You overcome it by bringing it to God.
And notice something — the verse doesn’t say God removed David from every situation. It says He delivered him from his fears.
The battle isn’t always around you.
Often, it’s within you.
Today, you don’t have to eliminate fear.
You just have to decide it’s not your master.
Takeaway:
Fear may visit, but it doesn’t get to lead.
Prayer:
God, You see what I’m carrying. You know what’s been keeping me up at night. I bring it to You today. I don’t want fear to control my thoughts or my decisions. Teach me to seek You first. Replace anxiety with trust. Amen.
Action Step:
Write down one thing you’re afraid of — and pray over it by name.
