When God Rewrites Your StorySample

Loss Is Not the End of Your Story
Ruth’s story does not begin with romance, promise, or fulfillment. It begins with loss; raw, layered, and unresolved grief. Scriptures do not give us an explanation of why her husband died; we just know he died. God allows the weight of loss to be felt before redemption is ever revealed.
This is important because many people stop believing right where Ruth’s story starts. Loss has a way of convincing the heart that something final has occurred, that what ended also erased what could have been. When dreams die, relationships end, or timelines collapse, it can feel as though the best parts of your story have already passed you by.
But the Bible tells a different story. God does not pretend loss didn’t happen. He does not minimize pain, shame, or grief. Psalm 34 reminds us that the Lord is close to the brokenhearted. Humans sometimes get tired of supporting those going through loss, but not God; he is not impatient or disappointed with the brokenhearted, nor is he standing at a distance waiting for them to recover. He draws near.
God’s redemption rarely begins with immediate replacement. It begins with his presence. He sits with you in the pain, and he allows the tears. He gives space for mourning. And then he begins to rewrite what pain tried to declare finished.
Ruth’s loss did not disqualify her from God’s plan; rather, it positioned her for it. What felt like an ending became the doorway to a future she could not have imagined. In the same way, your loss is not evidence that God is done with you or that God is not with you. It is not proof that you missed your moment. It is not the final word over your life.
Your story is still unfolding in God’s hands. What feels empty now is a sacred soil where God will bring restoration in His time.
Prayer:
Father, You see what I have lost and what I’ve carried quietly. You know the grief, the questions, and the moments where hope felt too heavy to hold. Thank You for being close to me in this place. I give You my pain, my disappointment, and my fear that this is the end. Heal what hurts, redeem what feels wasted, and help me trust that You are still writing my story. I place my future back in Your hands. Amen.
