Believer’s Authority

DAY 1 OF 3

Jesus Destroyed the Works of the Devil

When Jesus came to earth, He came with a clear purpose: to destroy the works of the devil. “For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil” (1 John 3:8).

The greatest of those works is sin. Sin separated humanity from God, bringing death and bondage. But Jesus became sin so that we could become the righteousness of God in Him. Through His sacrifice, He paid the full debt of sin and broke the power of death.

Now, everyone who believes in Him is made new; a new creation with a new nature. Sin no longer has dominion over us. We’ve been transferred from the kingdom of darkness into the Kingdom of God’s dear Son. The devil has lost any legal right to subdue and afflict us.

The devil’s power is rooted in deception and sin. Once sin’s power is broken, Satan loses his right to oppress. That’s why Jesus not only forgives us but also empowers us to live free.

You don’t have to live afraid of the enemy. You don’t have to live under guilt, addiction, or fear. In Christ, you are seated in heavenly places, far above all powers of darkness (Ephesians 2:6).

Stand tall in this truth today: Jesus didn’t just die for you; He also triumphed with you in mind. His victory is your victory. Own it, take it, appropriate it.

Bible Reading:
1 John 3:8; Romans 6:14; Ephesians 2:6

Reflection Question:
What area of your life have you allowed the enemy to dominate? How does knowing Christ’s victory change your response today?

About this Plan

Believer’s Authority

Every believer in Christ has been given authority, the divine power to rule over sin, sickness, and all the works of the enemy. Yet, many Christians live unaware of this truth, tolerating things Jesus already conquered on their behalf. This three-day devotional will help you understand and walk in your God-given authority as a believer. You’ll discover what Jesus accomplished through His death and resurrection, how to stand firm against the enemy, and how to exercise your spiritual authority through faith, prayer, and revelation
