The Shepherd Who Sees You

Scripture: “God, my Shepherd! I don’t need a thing” (Psalm 23:1, MSG).

A good shepherd never takes his eyes off the sheep; he knows each one by name. He knows their needs and provides for them. He protects them from danger and from attacks from wild animals. These are the things God wants you to see as you go about your day-to-day. He knows you by name. He has inscribed you on the palm of His hand. You are precious and honored in His sight, and He loves you. No weapon formed against you shall prosper.

“I don’t need a thing.” Do you believe it? Does it seem improbable? God is calling you to speak into your future. The same Shepherd who never leaves you nor forsakes you will be sure to provide for you even when you have come to the end of your resources, and bring you to His abundance.

“Now to Him Who, by(consequence of) the [action of His] power that is at work within us, can [carry out His purpose and] dosuperabundantly, far over and above all that we [dare] ask or think [infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts, hopes and dreams]” (Ephesians 3:20, AMP).

Let go and let God.

1. What need is overwhelming to you right now, such as unpaid bills, a sick loved one, a strained relationship, or an estranged spouse?
2. Knowing that God never takes His eyes off you, how will you invite Him into your need or situation? Let this be your prayer today:

Prayer

Dear God, thank you for reminding me that You never take Your eyes off me. I ask that You forgive me for the many times I’ve taken my eyes off You, focusing on my needs, situation, and circumstances, and assuming responsibility for them. Thank you that because You are my Shepherd, who knows my name and watches over me, I shall lack no good thing. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
