DAY 1 OF 6

The King Who Still Asks

David is king now. Not the shepherd boy anymore. Not the man hiding in caves. He has walked through rejection, betrayal, wilderness seasons, and long delays. After years of waiting, the crown is finally on his head. This is the moment many people rush forward—building, expanding, securing their future.

Instead, David looks backward before he moves forward. He opens his mouth and asks a deeply intentional question: “Is there anyone still left of the house of Saul to whom I can show kindness?” This is not strategy. This is covenant.

Years earlier, David had made a promise to Jonathan—a covenant rooted in love, loyalty, and faithfulness. Time had passed. Jonathan was gone. Saul’s house no longer posed a threat. Yet covenant still spoke louder than circumstance.

This is where identity restoration begins. Not with effort. Not with proving yourself. But with the King remembering.

Many people quietly wonder if God has forgotten them. Maybe life feels messy. Maybe progress feels slow. Maybe you are not where you thought you would be by now. Time can make us assume disinterest. Silence can feel like abandonment.

But David’s question confronts that lie. God still remembers you—no matter where you are in life. No matter how long it has been. No matter what season you are in.

David is a shadow of Jesus here. Jesus is the true King who remembers us before we ever reach for Him. Before you prayed. Before you healed. Before you understood what happened to you—He was already thinking about you.

Restoration does not start with your pursuit of God. It starts with God’s pursuit of you.

Reflection Questions:
Do I believe God still remembers me in this season?
Have I mistaken waiting for abandonment?

Prayer:
Father, help me trust that You remember me even now.

Declaration:
God remembers me, no matter where I am in life.

About this Plan

RESTORED

God remembers you—no matter where you are or how long it has been. In this 6-day devotional, we journey through David and Mephibosheth’s story to discover how identity is restored after pain, silence, and long waiting seasons. If life once dropped you and growth stalled, this plan will help you leave Lo Debar and rediscover who you are at the King’s table.
