Made for More: Possessing the Promise of Life More Abundantly a 5-Day Devotional Plan by Tyra Lane-KingslandSample

Made For More
The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come to believe that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. John 10:10 NKJV
Recently, I took a trip to Costa Rica. As I traveled throughout the country, taking in the lush, verdant vistas, I was overwhelmed by its sheer beauty. I felt like I had stepped into the Garden of Eden. The trees, animals, mountains, and waterfalls all reflected God’s beauty and abundance. And just like that environment, teeming with abundant life, God wants the same for us.
If God has promised life more abundantly, why does it sometimes feel so elusive? I don’t know where you are today, but there have been times I’ve been emotionally, mentally, spiritually, and physically bankrupt, running on empty and feeling overwhelmed. It’s not easy when we’re trying to navigate life as a caregiver, employee, faithful child, ministry leader, and all the other hats we often wear. The weightiness of it all can make it seem as if abundant living is out of our reach.
But there is hope! In John 10:10, Jesus affirms why He came, that we might have LIFE and have it MORE abundantly. In the verse, we’re also clued in to the enemy’s plan; He seeks to kill, steal, and destroy. The enemy wants to rob us of joy, peace, and livelihood, yet we don’t have to fear because Jesus promises us something greater. Over the next few days, you’ll be equipped with small yet effective strategies that position you to possess the promise of life more abundantly.
I like to think of the promise of life more abundantly as living fully. Living fully requires us to minister to all parts of our personhood. You are first a spirit who resides in a body, which also houses your soul. Abundant living demands that you nurture all parts of you: your spirit, soul, and body. If you leave any one area neglected, it’s as if you’ve neglected them all. In this plan, you’ll be equipped to nurture all of you.
In the beginning, Adam’s fall opened the door for sin and death. But praise be to God for Jesus, the Second Adam, who has restored us to an imperishable, abundant life. I was made for more. You were made for more. Now let us receive our inheritance of life MORE abundantly!
Reflect
What do you need MORE of from The Lord today? What are you willing to release so that you can expand your capacity to receive more?
Pray
Lord Jesus, thank you for your promise of life more abundantly. While the enemy may try to steal, kill, and destroy, abiding in You gives me the assurance of a fruitful life. May my time spent in your word and in your presence position me to walk in the fullness of the promise. In your matchless name I pray. Amen.
Action
Write out John 10:10. Circle the words MORE ABUNDANTLY in the verse. In the concordance, look up the word “more abundantly” and write down its other meanings.
