Day 1 – The Roar of Identity

Big Idea: Jesus is the Lion of Judah: strong, brave, and powerful. And because you belong to Him, you’re brave too!

Kid Talk: Have you ever been to the zoo? I know when I go to the zoo, I want to see my favorite animals. My favorite animals are pandas, monkeys, and lions. Pandas are one of my favorites because I think they are cute. I like monkeys because they are social and like to talk. Lions are my favorite because they don’t have to pretend to be brave; they already are!

Did you know the Bible calls Jesus, God’s son, the Lion of Judah in Revelation 5:5? That means He is strong, brave, and powerful! Genesis 49:9–10 also talks about the tribe of Judah being like a lion. And because you belong to Jesus, you are a part of his tribe, you can be brave too! When you’re afraid of speaking in class or going to sleep in the dark, remember: God made you brave on the inside, just like a lion!

Prayer: Jesus, help me remember I’m brave because You live in me.

Courageous Challenge: Turn off screens for one hour today and use that time to spend time with God!

What to do during that time:

Worship – Listen to 3 of your favorite worship songs!

Pray – Thank the Lord for who He is, thank Him for what He has done, pray for your family and friends, and pray for yourself!

Read – Look up the Bible verses for today and read what they say!

Listen – Listen to what God is saying through the devotion, worship, prayer, and/or the Bible verses!

Draw – Our activity today is to make your own paper lion mask or draw yourself roaring for Jesus! Feel free to add color! Be ready to share your drawing.
