Day 2: Wake Up
Reflection:
Counting down to Christmas can sometimes feel like a bit of an old routine. We seem to know what to expect and we go through the regular rhythms and motions of the season every year. This is why it can be so helpful to consider Advent not just as a lead up to Christmas—but as a reminder of His second coming. It reminds us that there’s more to expect than what we already know. Sure, we know December 25th is coming. We know that Jesus has come as Emmanuel (God with us), but now Jesus urges His followers to stay awake—a spiritual alertness that Advent demands. This is not a sentimental countdown to Christmas; it is vigilance in anticipation of a coming kingdom.
Meditation:
How are you keeping watch for Jesus in your life? Do you feel spiritually awake?
Scripture
About this Plan

Advent is more than a countdown to Christmas. It is a season of holy waiting, of longing in the dark for the Light that is coming. We not only look back to the manger, but forward to Christ’s return in glory. Advent trains our hearts to be awake and expectant, anchoring us in the hope of God’s promises. This 25-day plan invites you to slow down, reflect, and rediscover the meaning of Advent. Together we will journey through Scripture, prayer, and meditation, remembering that the coming of Jesus is not sentimental tradition, but a world-shaking reality.
