Following Jesus Through the First Christmas: 25 Days of Advent TruthsSample

In the middle of the night, Joseph woke from a dream with a clear message from God: “Get up. Take the child and His mother and flee to Egypt.”
There was no timeline, no map, no list. Just a single direction.
And Joseph obeyed.
This wasn’t the first time God had led someone this way. Generations earlier, Abraham was told to leave everything familiar and go “to the land I will show you.” God didn’t hand him a detailed plan either—only the promise of His presence and blessing.
That’s who God is. He leads, and when we obey, He honors that obedience.
This is how God guides His people, He rarely reveals the entire path at once. Instead, He gives just enough light for what He has in store for you next.
Psalm 119:105 reminds us, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” His Word is trustworthy, steady, and sure. When we need direction, He’s already given us a guide through Scripture.
Even when we can’t see His hand, we can trust His heart. It’s not easy to walk by faith when the future feels unclear, but trust grows in the dark.
Faith isn’t built by knowing everything—it’s built by following the One who does.
What seemed uncertain to Joseph was actually right at the center of God’s perfect plan. His obedience in the night protected Jesus and fulfilled prophecy.
Maybe you’re in a season where you wish God would show you more of the plan. Take a moment today to pause and ask Him:
“What’s the next step You’re asking me to take?”
Write it down, pray over it, and take one obedient step forward. Just like Abraham and Joseph, your obedience today could be part of something far greater than you can see right now.
God’s not finished yet—and His Word will always shine enough light for you to put one foot in front of the other.
Pray:
God, thank You that You never leave me without direction. When I can’t see the full picture, help me to trust the light You’ve given. Teach me to walk in obedience, one step at a time, believing that You are still a part of writing my story. Remind me that You’re not finished yet—and that every step of trust draws me closer to You. Amen.
Talk about it:
Where in your life do you feel like you’re walking without a clear map—and how might God be inviting you to trust Him there?

About this Plan

During a season that often feels busy and stretched thin, we invite you to pause and remember what matters most: following Jesus. The birth of Christ is more than a story we tell in December. It's the beginning of our Savior's life on earth — and the pattern for our own life with Him. Our prayer is that these 25 days prepare your heart to celebrate His birth, deepen your walk with Him today, and stir your hope for His return. We’ve also created a companion worship playlist – search “Following Jesus Through the First Christmas” on Spotify to listen.
