DAY 31 OF 35

Day 31 – Lamenting Injustice

Because our world is broken and filled with sin, injustice is bound to be. This inequality is not foreign to humanity and is discussed in Scripture. The cry “How long, O Lord?” is the voice of lament in the face of injustice. Habakkuk saw violence, corruption, and evil flourishing while justice seemed far away. His lament was not faithless; it was rooted in the belief that God is just and good, even when His timing is hard to understand.

We see the same injustices today: oppression, inequality, exploitation, and violence. The strong take advantage of the weak. To lament injustice is to bring these painful realities before God, refusing to turn a blind eye, and trusting that He cares more deeply than we ever could.

When we live with an awareness of God’s presence, even ordinary moments are filled with extraordinary significance. A simple conversation, a quiet walk, or a daily task can become an act of worship when we do it with Him in mind. God’s presence is not limited to our time in prayer or church services; He goes with us everywhere. This truth should encourage us to remain sensitive to His Spirit throughout the day, listening for His leading, and trusting that He is near in every circumstance.

Lamenting injustice also changes us. As we bring these burdens to God, He stirs our hearts toward compassion and courage. Our prayers move us to act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with Him. While injustice grieves us, it also drives us to lean on God’s promise that He will one day set everything right.

Today, reflect on injustices you see in the world. Cry out to God honestly, asking Him to intervene and use His people as instruments of peace and justice. Let your lament fuel your hope in His perfect justice.
