How Is It With Your Soul?Sample

Day 1: It Is Unwell With My Soul
Devotion Series written by Jordan D. Sipe
Oftentimes, we humans try to force it to be well with our soul. When that happens, we try and find it well within other things.
Frequently, I’m trying to seek peace within my thoughts or the security of having answers. It is a hard road to navigate, knowing that the Lord might be leaving you in a season of the unknown for a reason.
When was the last time you really had to lean on the Lord and say, “Lord, I might not understand your will right now or why you are doing this, but I do trust that you are a God who does not break His promise to turn things for good.”
It is okay to be uncertain and to question your circumstances, but it is not okay to sit and dwell on them yourself. You must bring them to the Lord.
In the middle of your suffering, turn to the quickest form of praise you can.
I remember a night when I was sitting in the basement of my dorm, questioning how the circumstances of my life were going to be worked out. I said that very prayer I mentioned earlier and realized there is no escaping how you naturally think about things. You are going to question things, and you are going to want to try and figure it out on your own, but that is when you must become willing to become teachable and change your thought pattern.
A part of our calling is to become what we are not yet.
A part of our calling includes confessing what lies at the bottom of an empty flowerpot so that someday, it can be reused.
As a part of your healing, stop searching for what you do not need.
A little sprout or a little plant does not search for the nutrients that it needs. The little plant relies on its caretaker to give it what it needs to grow.
I can promise you that a good farmer will not plant their crops without the intention of taking care of them.
Let the Lord take care of you.
Let the Lord uproot you where you are not meant to grow.
He will clean your roots, lay new soil, plant you in the right season, and give you what you need.
