The Love of Most Will Grow Cold "Every day, in every way, things are getting better and better." Do you buy into that seemingly cheerful philosophy? To be sure, some things are better. There is much less blatant racism in America now than there was when I was a boy. But our cities are now far more violent places. Marriages are far more fragile, and many couples never bother to get married in the first place. Out-of-wedlock births are out of control. Girls who should be playing with dolls are pregnant. Pornography accounts for a preposterous percentage of Internet traffic. Children are neglected and abused, robbed of their childhood and forced to deal with adult issues. Every year unscrupulous chemists devise new illegal drugs that promise more intense highs and deliver more enslavement into depression and addiction. Increasing wealth turns many into self-absorbed pigs. With all of our advanced technology and growing wealth, how can these things be happening? Why can't people evolve along with technology? Jesus wants you to be realistic: "Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold" (Matthew 24:12). Now you know. Heads up.
