Start the Party - High SchoolSample

Studies show it takes as little as 1/10 of a second to form a first impression of someone. Think about it. In an instant, we can make a really fast judgment. Without even purposely thinking about it, we can decide how we view another person and treat them a certain way. But when Jesus came, He did things differently, and Jesus’ brother, James, writes that we should be doing what Jesus did. There is no “better than” or “more important than.” To Jesus, everyone is worth time, attention, and love.
Is there someone in your community, neighborhood, work, or school who might be overlooked? This week, be intentional about showing them that you see them. Look them in the eye and say “hi.” Ask them about their day and truly listen to their response. Invite them to hang out with your friend group if it makes sense. Whatever you choose to do, make sure you make it about authentically showing someone else they matter.
