Knowing the Lord Psalm 100 commands us to make a joyful noise, serve the Lord, come into His presence, enter His gates, give thanks to Him, and bless his name. These commands are based on timeless truth: God made us: we are His; we are His people; the Lord is good; His steadfast love endures forever; and His faithfulness is to all generations. Our ability to praise, serve, or enjoy God’s presence flows out of our understanding of who God is and who we are in relation to Him. Everything I am is due to Him. My worship, service, and fellowship with the Creator is dependent upon self-understanding. How can I praise when I am still the center of my own world? And not knowing the Lord hinders my worship. How can I praise whom I fear? Or bless One whom I think is evil? Or thank One whom I think is capricious? To bless and serve the Lord, I must know Him! Here is the priority: Know the Lord and worship Him with joy!
