People seem unsatisfied with science and disillusioned with technology, and are looking for something or someone to reveal the future to them. A revival of witchcraft is sweeping our land, and Satan cults are springing up everywhere. For such an hour, God's Word declares: And when they say to you, "Seek those who are mediums and wizards, who whisper and mutter," should not a people seek their God? Should they seek the dead on behalf of the living? (Isaiah 8:19). Perhaps the book of the Bible that most helps us understand our day and its confusion is Revelation. Many have felt they cannot understand this difficult book and therefore read it little. Its very title, however, comes from a Greek word which means "to take off the cover." It is a "revelation," not an enigma. And this is the only book of the Bible which promises that those who read it, in particular, will be blessed. In this fascinating book, we can see our age mirrored and the events of the end which are swiftly taking place. In fact, the phrase things which must shortly take place (Revelation 1:1) means (in the original Greek) that when these events start, they will be fulfilled rapidly. We cannot afford to neglect this important book if we really want to hear what the Spirit is saying to the church. During the next months, if Jesus tarries, it would be wise to read Revelation through several times. Doing this will tune our hearts to the Spirit and show us that our redemption is near.
