Abiding in the Psalms

DAY 4 OF 63

He enters into our mess Have you ever seen a baby trying to feed itself? They manage to get it in places that you never though food could get. It is honestly pretty gross to look at. We come to God just like this. Dirty, messy and unable to do things ourselves. Yet this Psalm tells us that the only way we can get to God is if we have “clean hands and a pure heart … not trust in an idol or swear by a false god” (v4). I know that my hands are not clean; I am not innocent of sin. So how am I supposed to “seek him” (v6) when I keep sinning and keep running after false gods? The answer: Jesus. Through Jesus bearing our sin on the cross, through His suffering and death, He put to death the sin He bore for us and He put to death, death. It is only because of Jesus that we can have a personal relationship with the Creator of the world (v1-2) and the divine warrior who fights for us (v7-10). Questions Have you accepted Jesus into your life? What does this mean for you? Pray “Lord, you loved me enough to lose all your glory for me even though you owned the whole world and everything in it! Show your glory to my heart, to my family, and to my society as well, that they may all say to you, “Come in”. Amen. – Timothy Keller
