Does God play favorites?
Who's the judge? In a society of moral relativism - this is a no no today
There is a difference between judging- condemning -correcting and criticizing - or exhorting (confronting)
What we can NOT do I'd know if someone is truly saved or their motivations
We can know good fruit and bad fruit and we can arbitrate
Churches can be places of constant criticism
V2 we condemn the practice- we are not to do this e.g.. The ex-smokers are the worst for condemning the practice
V5 leads to a hard unrepentant heart- if we constantly judge and condemn others - we don't hear God's voice because our focus is on judging God wants us to have soft hearts toward others but hard feet against taking and being offended
V 8-9 leads to evil and therefore distress - we categorize sins God says sin is sin it separates. Us from God! We are to compare ourselves to Christ
How is God the judge?
V1-2 according to the truth- righteously see Ps. 7:11
V 6-8. 10 based on deeds - doing good vs living for self- seeking glory honor and peace see Rev. 20:12
V11 without bias- there is no partiality with God see james 2:1
Reflecting on Romans 2:1-11
How to avoid condemning others- remember God's kindness- we were saved and changed by grace
V7. Persevere in- - see Heb
, 10:36-Doing good - get active serving - how not to complain - then you are too busy working for a greater cause to think about how others don't measure up
V7 seeks (lives) for eternal life - Matt. 25:46
- others. Rom. 14:19
