Beating Cardinal in Volleyball
Today, my team (the Panthers), played Cardinal. Now, Cardinal is our rival school, so everything we do is taken to the extreme when we play them. In our first game of the match, we were ahead, but then we fell behind and lost the game. Then, in our second game, we won. Now, for those of you who don't know volleyball, that means we have a tie breaker and have a third game that goes to 15. Now, I was praying the whole time we were playing, and I kind of had this sense of peace washing over me. We fell behind, and our 1st server went to serve. She got a couple over and then she hit it out of bounds. Then this girl from Cardinal serves, and we already know she is a deep server, so all of the backrow players scoot back. Well, we had a little trouble with knowing where we were at. The ball should have gone out, but we were so anxious to get it we jumped to touch it. Then, the girl serves again and one girls that is in the backrow jumps to get it, but she is too short, so it goes out of bounds. I was praising God a lot there. Then, it was my turn to serve. I still had that sense of peace over me. Now, the score was maybe 9-13, and we were only going to 15. Cardinal was winning. I got ready to serve (which is I hit the ball into the ground 4 times, focus, and ask God to help me get the ball over and in), and then I served. I got us up to 14 points before Cardinal took a timeout. I knew they were trying to psych me out, and I was just kind of in lalaland. That is the only way I know how to describe it. Then, it was match point. I did my routine, and served. Then ball went over, a girl got it, passed it, and then it went into the net while another girl tried to get it. Then, the ball dropped. I was in shock, and I was so happy. Everybody on my team started screaming and they all gathered around me. Now I remember the verse "Love the Lord with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength." Deuteronomy 6:5. That is exactly what I did during that game, and the Lord helped us through. Thank you Lord!
