Favor of God: What it really is
It's a wonderful thing when God blesses. Being blessed by God is not receiving things from him but receiving a devine favor from him. What makes it divine is the fact that it's not based on what we've done. If it was, we wouldn't be favored at all. It's actually based on what Christ has done in our life. If we have allowed Christ to change us we receive the favor of God for being changed. So in other words, let Christ control everything in your life and everything you do will be blessed. That means, when we decide to become a disciple of Christ, instead of doing what we think is best, we do what God wants us to do. This is why God says, "Try me. See that I won't open the windows of heaven and pour you out a blessing (divine favor) that you will not have room to receive."
On the other hand, when God favors us, that doesn't mean everyone else will. If anything, people will hate us even more because were favored by God. All the apostles were favored by God, and were persecuted for it. They were wipped, beaten, ship wrecked, burned, hung, stoned, etc. all because of the favor (blessing) of God. So what does this mean? The sign of being favored by God is not the good things we receive. The sign of being favored by God is the things we suffer because we're followers of him. When some one doesn't want to talk because your conversation is always about Christ, that's favor. When the school doesn't agree with the way you teach the BIBLE study because you say Jesus is God and there's no other but him, that's favor. When your family doesn't ever want to hear you speak about God because you convict their hearts with the Word of God, that's favor. When people call you dumb or stupid because they don't agree with what God is telling you to do, that's favor. When it seems there's no one on your side anymore because you decided to follow Christ, that is favor! Be favored by God! AMEN!
