How great thou art: God's love Pt. II; Mickey Connolly
We know that we have experriienced God's electing love because we have been saved. God's saving love saves us. It is THE GREAT LOVE of Christ that saves us.
1 John 4:10 ESV
In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
While we were completely unrighteous Christ died for us (comparable to one takiing the death penalty for the Aurora CO shooter). When Christ took our sin he felt like he had been forsaken from the eternal love he shared with the father and spirit. This love is so foreign to human love it is considered of another place. God loves us individually is what is meant by "he loves us."
John 15:9 ESV
As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Abide in my love.
This is a DEEP DEEP DEEP love that Christ has for us. Christ and the father have eternally perfectly loved each other.
God's goal for his children is maximum fruitfulness on earth. As we grow we have maximum fruitfulness in our lives leading to max joy in heaven. In order to achieve this sanctifying love God must use trials. God sometimes in his love stresses us, leading to us becoming all that God has called us to be. Adversity of trials strengthen us!!! This discipliine is painful. God will always reveal sin to those humble in heart.
Lamentations 3:22-23 ESV
The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases;
his mercies never come to an end;
they are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness.
God's love is unchanging and unchageable.
Romans 8:37-39 ESV
No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
NOTHING CAN OR WILL SEPERATE ME FROM THE STEADFAST LOVE OF CHRIST!!!
