What do the wedding clothes represent in this parable?
The person was at the wedding feast, but not dressed correctly.
We are told that Jesus is coming back for a spotless bride - without spot or wrinkle.
If we are to be the bride (or even the guests at the wedding?), then we need to go on a healing journey - to embrace what Holy Spirit is urging us to do. Sanctification is part of salvation, and we need to believe the Truth (Jesus) that we can overcome these "spots and wrinkles" in our lives.
For we enter Gods house as slaves (to sin), but He invites us to become sons who dwell in His house forever. (John 8:35).
For many are called, but few prepare themselves to be chosen. Few do the sanctification journey that is part of salvation.
(Note: there is a big difference between God's mercy and His grace. Most confuse His mercy for grace. Grace is the unmerited favour and gift that has its out working and reflection in our lives - sanctification).
Of course it's not through striving in our own strength, but embracing and believing in what God is doing in us.
This is a sober but very important lesson!
