How great thou art: THE ALL'S OF GOD Mickey Connolly
Wouldn't it be great to be "king of the world?" But could we be considering the largenesa of the world and all in it?
Omnipresence- All of God is equally present everywhere all the time. But how so? God is an infinite being completely of spirit. We can only be in one place at a time, but this is not so with God. God is- ACTIVELY present everywhere and with purpose.
Omniscience- God has a limitless knowledge. Everything there is to know iis fully known to God's consciousness. He never has to recall or learn anything because he has eternally known everything.
Isaiah 42:9 ESV
Behold, the former things have come to pass,
and new things I now declare;
before they spring forth
I tell you of them."
GOD'S KNOWLEDGE HAS NO LIMIT. His knowledge is not limited by time. He fully knows the physical as well as the spiritual (thoughts and heart intentions). He understand how everything perfectly will fit together. God, being all wise, uses the wisdom he has to obtain the best possible results through the best possible means.
Omnipotence- NOTHING IS TOO HARD FOR GOD. He has absolute irresistable power over all creation, and he does so without expending any energy. EXAMPLE: There was a point where only God existed and then he merely spoke the universe into existence.
Because of these all's it is easy to see how he is completely sovereign.
How do we apply these to our own life?
To those who do know God it should create great comfort in our lives. The better question is is he there to punish or bless me?
Psalm 10:11-14 ESV
He says in his heart, "God has forgotten,
he has hidden his face, he will never see it."
Arise, O Lord; O God, lift up your hand;
forget not the afflicted.
Why does the wicked renounce God
and say in his heart, "You will not call to account"?
But you do see, for you note mischief and vexation,
that you may take it into your hands;
to you the helpless commits himself;
you have been the helper of the fatherless.
As unbelievers we would like to think that God does not see all that we do because there is something tempting about getting away with our wrongful actions. Even though we fully rebelled agaainst these all God this fear can and will be instanly revealed when we put our full trust in Christ.
For the believer he is always with us!!!
Psalm 46:1-3 ESV
God is our refuge and strength,
a very present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way,
though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea,
though its waters roar and foam,
though the mountains tremble at its swelling. Selah
Hebrews 13:5-6 ESV
Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, "I will never leave you nor forsake you." So we can CONFIDENTLY say,
"The Lord is my helper;
I will not fear;
what can man do to me?"
In all moments of our life God is present to help us!
1) Since God is all-knowing he knows this and still completely loves us. He is aware of the worst thing we have ever done or thought and still completely loves us
2) He is completely present and knows the best about us when none around us do. God knows the best about us when no one else does. We can never lose his favor. "If no one undestand me God still does."
3) God knows what we his plan for us is and what we will become.
Ephesians 2:10 ESV
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
God is patiently, kindly, and compassionately working out his plan through our life.
4) God is always working for us with unfailing power. God knows all and we have a finite knowledge and oftentimes we have a mindset that cannot possibly conceive how God willl work things together for our good. Since God is omnipresent, omniscient, and omnipotent we can be faithful that he is working for our good.
WE SHOULD BE THE MOST PEACEFUL AND JOYFUL PEOPLE IN THE WORLD.
